Casting the Lines
On a flat, calm morning, Peter and I departed for Oswego at 7:20 am. Friends from Collins Bay Marina, and family were there to see us off. I laughed so hard upon hearing the theme song to Rocky coming from my friend Mark’s boat! He blew a conch as we were motoring away. I was so touched by the well wishes. We were off to a good start to voyaging about 1,800 nautical miles south!
We motored the entire time to Oswego arriving nine and a half hours later. The next morning we had the mast unstepped after removing all of the running rigging. Peter did a fantastic job constructing the three mast supports. As a result, the whole procedure went smoothly and the mast was well secured to the supports and boat.
Good bye Canada!
